Using this technique is a great way to recreate the look of Driftwood or a wood grain finish! This can be done on pieces that are not wood or pieces that have been damaged and need some TLC! We will should you how to do a "traditional wood finish" but you can add whites & grays to make it a weathered wood finish or to recreate those Restoration Hardware finishes we all love!

- Clean your piece with Krud Kutter, (Spray it down and wipe it off)
- When you paint, you'll paint in thin coats like nail polish. Paint a coat of Jolie Chalk Finish Paint in Uptown Ecru. (If you want a weathered, bleached look wood finish, use one of Jolie's whites instead!)
- Let it dry (about 20 minutes)
- Paint another coat. Paint as many coats necessary until the desired coverage is achieved (2-3 typically).
- Once the piece is dry, apply the General Finishes Van Dyke Glaze Effects. (For weathered wood, use General Finishes Glaze Effects in a grey!)
- Apply the glaze with a 4" chip brush in a straight lines along your piece. Then wipe back with your Suite shop towel. To create a more consistent look, use General Finishes Extender or Clear Glaze to create a slip coat that will allow more control over the wiping back process.
- Cover and wipe your whole piece with glaze, to your liking and let dry. (about 2 hours)
- Once it's dry, topcoat! You can apply 2 coats with Cling on Brush! Just let it dry about 1-2 hours in between coats. Choose a High Performance Topcoat in your choice of sheen. For a woody look, we recommend satin or flat.
- You can use your piece immediately, just keep in mind it takes 30 days for it to fully cure so just be careful!
