Sometimes you need to get away ; )
A couple weeks ago we went on our yearly summer trip to Montauk. It was glorious…the weather was amazing, the company even better and the inspiration was fantastic. I almost forgot what spending time not working was like ; )
It’s been a long while since I’ve gotten time to share on the Suite Pieces blog…I’ve missed writing to you! The business has gone through such an incredible ride (thanks to all of you!) And after this week, I may have some other exciting news to share with you!
With that being said, I wanted to share some of the inspiration I found on our summer getaway.
For the last 2 years we’ve been staying at Driftwood…which is right across the street from Cyril’s…a fantastic little beach bar that serves an amazing drink called The BBC…Bailey’s & Banana Colada. I know, it’s freaking delicious. We make a trip across the street every year to get some of that yummy goodness.
We stayed in a fantastic room that had just been updated. I loved the bright white cabinets & the glass backsplash…so cool & fresh.
The whole room was very chic & clean. Love the lines on the dresser…and I dig the stone top…I’d dig it even more if it was marble.
And check out the floors. I would recreate this using but of course…Chalk Paint®. French Linen, Coco, Country Grey, Old White, Paris Grey & Old White if necessary for touch ups…in that order ; )
Beides spending lots of time on the beach relaxing, we also did lots of eating & drinking…and luckily for me, lots of sightseeing. This year my wonderful hubs kept a smile on his face even though I made him stop in every Hampton town on the way home. He’s the best…thanks babe! I had to share some of the beautiful sights I saw…of course centered around design & home decor…what else would I be inspired by?
After a few early morning spots, we stopped at an adorable French Cafe called Pierre’s. It’s gotta be famous because it was freaking fantastic ; )
A few shots from Amagansett…
Love the black & white contrast on the building. So tailored with the awnings.
I love Restoration Hardware’s style. Vintage, rustic glam, with touches of masculinity. Totally my kind of style ; )
Enjoy some product shots…this stuff is drool worthy.
After East Hampton, we stopped in Bridgehampton, where I visited John Salibello Antiques. All I can say is…Amazing..
After the glorious 5 days in Montauk…we decided to extend the trip and take a ride upstate for the weekend. Talk about opposite ends of the spectrum! We went from upscale Hamptons to down home on the farm in just 24 hours. I’m not sure which one I loved more. I loved every single minute of our weeklong getaway.
View from the mule…
Shadow loves it upstate.
My husband’s family has a cabin upstate, about 4 hours away. We try to get up there as often as we can. It is seriously disconnected from society…they still have dirt roads, no cell phone service and an internet connection is non-existent.
When the hubs first dragged me up there, I thought it was torturous. After some coaxing, and eventually relaxing, I realized what an incredible place it is. It actually forces me to chill out.
And let me go full disclosure here…I absolutely love the picking I get to do up there! Between the barn on the family’s property & the multitude of antique stores in the area, it’s like a little slice of heaven for me. And I’m pretty sure it’s the hubs favorite place on earth. He loves the peace & quiet…but don’t let him fool you, he’s loves a good pick just as much as his wife ; )
This could be one of MY most favorite places on earth. Digging through a salvage yard…
And in case you were wondering if I bought anything…why of course I did. Check out these tiles that were cut up right on the spot!
During my week long excursion, I even got to ride the quad…and yes, I do realize how ridiculously long my hair is…wow.
It felt good making my life ; )
I’m so lucky, so blessed to be following my dream. It was a giant leap of faith & I’m thankful to have wonderful people in my life supporting my dream. Along this journey, I hope to help others live their dreams too. I am so excited about the new vendors in our store and getting to meet the most wonderful new customers. I’m working on a post for next week to let you all in on the wonderful Grand Opening goodness! I’ll also begin to introduce you to the talented people who rent space in the shop.
I hope you’ve all had a wonderful summer. And I hope you’ve enjoyed painting with Chalk Paint® ; ) We’re so thankful to all of you for being such wonderful customers!
Happy painting! We hope to see you soon ; )
